2010 Dog days at the park

Written by Rachel Phelps

Its me Preston your investigative dog reporter here letting you know all about my town’s recent dog days at the park event. As a top notch reporter I felt I needed to blend in with the other dogs so I could give you the real scoop from a dogs point of view so I was prepared to fully participate. Well my day honestly didn’t start out every good, I had to go to the vet for a bladder checkup(but I’ll fill you in on that adventure soon). So we got to dog days a little late and dogs were already there playing. They had stations setup for us dogs. We had a water area with bowls of cool water under a tree, a doggie obstacle course, a couple of contests, and local vendors had tables set up as well. They even gave us doggie bags filled with treats and a tennis ball. Petsmart had a table so I got to hang out with my petsmart friends and their dogs. I entered their drawing and I won a free training class with Miss Amber! YEA! Thank you petsmart! I love going to class and I think we may need more time to make my doggie dance perfect. The contests were also so much fun. I tired best trick contest. I was going to do dead dog where I roll over on my side and stay there but I had stage fright. It was pretty embarrassing but Miss. Amber saved the day and came out to help me. With her great training ability and yummy treats she made we forget my stage fright and I did the trick and got a bunch of claps! I didn’t win, but I had fun. Here is picture of Amber and her three-legged dog duke showing off his stuff!

Next was the best dressed contest. Mommy was prepared! She brought me a doctor outfit complete with pants and a hat to wear. She told everyone that I was Dr. Mc Westie and not to brag but I looked really cute! I think I stole the hearts of the judges and I WON!! I got a neat certificate that is now up on the frig and tons of toys and treats! I am such a lucky dog! Here I am!

Finally, I got to meet some new doggie friends and say hi to some dogs I had met at Petsmart over the past year. I played with a golden retriever puppy named Gunner and he was so much fun! Here is a photo of us together! Mommy says I am blessed to have such great friends in my life, both human and canine!

My final review is dog days a definite two paws up and I can’t wait until their next dog friendly event..dog days at the pool in August!
