Eukanuba Paws In Motion to BarkWorld – CLOSED

Written by Rachel Phelps

I am a proud alumni of BarkWorld! You’re probably wondering what is BarkWorld? It is a pet social medial conference just for us pets and the humans who love us! I have attended all of them and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE BarkWorld. So today I thought I would tell you about what I have experienced from a dogs point of view

First, dogs (and cats, ferrets, etc) are the real stars! From the minute we arrive everything is centered round us (isn’t that the way it should be?). From the educational sessions to the fun events, the rents learn all about social media and emerging trends in the pet world. If you have a blog, or your human has one, they have sessions about working with companies, how to take better pet photos, and how to write better (Ok I skipped the writing better I know I’m good for a dog … hehehe).

The speakers! BarkWorld brings in the best and brightest to talk at the conference. Last year, the keynotes were Ted Rheingold, Founder of Dogster & Catster, Jelena Woehr from the Yahoo! Contributor Network, and Victoria Stillwell from the TV show “It’s Me or the Dog!”. Yep, me and Victoria are buds! We are on a first name basis … she called me Preston and I called her Victoria … hehehe. She even came out to visit with me at doggie daycare and tell me what a good dog I was. She signed my copy of her book and said “You’re gorgeous! ” (yep, I almost fainted!). Oh, I have to add that my Mom did a great job as well speaking last year. She is talking about my blog in a workshop session again this year too!

DOGGIE DAY CARE!! Oh my dog! They set up an area just for us dogs to hang out without our rents. While the rents went to get their learn on, I played with my pals! We had a blast! The staff from Best Friends Pet Care took such great care of me and gave me tons of attention even when I was a naughty dog and tried to break out to explore (The Great Escape). At the end of the day, they even sent a treat home (to the hotel room) just in case I wanted a snack later on. But what did mom make me do … take it home to give to my brother Elvis since he couldn’t come. This year I’m asking for two treats! Plus, they had an ice fire hydrant in the middle of the doggie day care. I plead the 5th, I have no idea who marked it, even if there is supposedly photo proof it was me. I say it was another little white dog that just happened to have a PrestonSpeaks.com shirt on! Maybe they were just one of my fans …

The Sponsors! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the sponsors! First, I know there would be no BarkWorld without them because they LOVE us pets! There are awesome swag bags for attendees and treats at almost every table for us! Not to mention it is a great opportunity to meet the people behind the brands and make connections!

Fun field trips! Last year, we all went to the Atlantic Station area of Atlanta (they provided buses, yep even us dogs got to go) and they had a reception just for us at a pet store and then we got dragged along while the rents shopped BOL! I can’t complain though, I got to hang out with my friend Carma and her Mom and sister. I also got a new pair of sunglasses at Uptown Pups. Don’t you think I looked dashing?

There is something for everyone, including us pets! Don’t worry if you’re a newbie (a pup) in the pet social media world, there are “101” sessions for beginners so you can get caught up!

This year, BarkWorld has some amazing things planned, so I hope they don’t mind if I let the cat out of the bag (I can’t help it, I love saying that!). There is going to be a huge block party in the hotel one night sponsored by one of my favorite companies, Eukanuba/Iams. Several of the sponsors will be hosting parties in their suites and we get to go and party the night away … well until we get tired. Maybe they will provide us dog beds in the suites or let us jump up on the beds for a nap. They have already announced three amazing keynote speakers so far … Matt Meeker from meetup.com, Brent Herd from Twitter, and Andy Nibley, the Writer/Director of Madonna of the Mills (a great documentary about puppy mills). Plus, to kick things off, there will be a HOWL-a-Ween party complete with a costume contest. You KNOW I love costumes but I’m not telling you what I’m coming as. You will just HAVE to come to BarkWorld to find out!

So I hope I have convinced you and your rents you must attend this year! Tell them to go to http://www.barkworldexpo.com to purchase their tickets. Maybe you should set the homepage on their web browsers to BarkWorld so if they are dense they will get the hint … hehehehe. See you in Atlanta In October!

Your pal,

  • Trust me Preston Knows what he is talking about. BarkWorld was amazing! If you are a new blogger or one that has been doing it for years like Preston , you will still learn so many new things, it will blow your ears back! Not only can you ask questions to the host of the seminars and get answers right away on how to’s, but you get answers from the people that have been blogging for a long time and they will tell you what works for them. Its well worth the ticket and even a old dog can learn new tips.

  • Wow! We would LOVE to go to BarkWorld! It looks like you had such a great time!! We are sure that you were a good boy the whole time!! Glad you got to meet lots of new friends! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug
