FURminator 2-Step Grooming Products Review

Written by Rachel Phelps

For most of us dogs, brushing is the least of our concerns, but it is very important to our rents. Brushing helps keep our coat clean, detangled, and for those dogs who shed a lot, control the fur they lose (us Westies don’t shed much). FURminator contacted me and had me take an online survey on their site to see what grooming tools were best for me to try out and review. You should go try it out for your dog at http://www.furminator.com/grooming-solutions/. I admit, I was rooting for nothing that had to do with my feet … or the review would have been over before it ever started LOL. If a nail grinder or a nail clipper was recommended I would have been very upset (I hate having my feet worked on!). But at the end of the “quiz”, it recommended a 2-step grooming process that included a small soft slicker brush and a small finishing comb (I was relieved!). I can handle that!

When the two tools came in mom was very impressed. The parts are bendable, they have flexible necks, durable handles, and even have parts that are anti-microbial to not become home to nasty germs. The box says they are ergonomic but I’m not sure what that means. Mom says that is a good thing for the rents hands and wrists. I told her the best thing for her hands and wrists was to not brush me … hehehe. Another great feature is the brushes come with protective covers to put on the brushes when you are not using them.

So the first of the 2-step process for me was to use the slicker brush all over. This helps detangle and smooth my fur.

The second step for my coat type is to use the finishing comb. This smoothes and extracts debris, mats, and tangles from my nice white fur.SONY DSC

Since I don’t shed much, I was surprised that the FURminator was able to get out so much loose fur. This is good because it means less for Mom to clean up. Plus, it made my coat shine! For other types of dogs they also carry larger brushes and combs, ranks, dual brushes, and even curry brushes. Overall, I give the new grooming line from FURminator two paws up! Now I wonder if Elvis will let me try out the brushes on him … hehehe!
