My Trip to the Evansville Dog Park

Written by Rachel Phelps

Recently, mommy and daddy took Tommy and I to the Evansville dog park (Central Bark) for a Halloween Social event. We had heard of this park before but it was just for members. Mom didn’t want to join the park site unseen so this was the perfect opportunity to check the place out and see if this dog park was up to our westie standards.

The park was not hard to find and it had an area for small dogs as well as big dogs (but everyone played in the big dog part). They had shade trees, benches, and picnic tables for the humans. Mom had Tommy and I dressed up in matching pumpkin shirts so we were a cute site! They also came in handy when the big dogs decided to mark..it gave us some protection! I played and played and ran and ran and made friends with everyone and their parents. I had so much fun! I think Tommy had fun too but he kinda kept to himself..he sniffed alot and trotted around checking things out. I don’t think he gets the whole playing thing yet. But he made his rounds to all the parents to get pets and belly rubs. I personally think he was working it to find a new forever home! He even had his cute face on!

I got the bright idea that since I’m a big dog and all that I’m going to hang out only with the big dogs. Well they had this big ball and I wanted it!

So i went in and grabed it.

Well, BAD IDEA they decided to chase me with the ball. I dropped it quickly but they kept coming.

And I high tailed it to mommy to protect me. Good think I’m fast!

I’ll think twice about taking toys again especially with so many big dogs around. Overall we had a blast and mommy has decided we need to join so we can come back and play again. For more information go to their website at http://www.evansvilledogpark.org/
