Well I was super excited when we got up on Sunday.  It was my big day..I was going to meet doggies at the beach and lots of them!  So in true westie fashion I really bugged the parents to get them out of bed.  I even got dressed for the part I was wearing my lifeguard shirt.  So off we went to catch the bus.  The bus driver was the only unfriendly person we met the whole trip.  She yelled at my mommy when she got on the bus and didn’t know she had to pay for me.  I had the dreaded muzzle on so I thought I was ok.  The trolley and street car didn’t charge me anything.   I was ready for mommy to get some westiatude herself when the driver mocked her..but she kept her cool and quickly got out $2 and paid off the mean lady!  So off we went down to the beach.  When we arrived I was in doggie heaven.  First sand is just cool! It was like dirt that mom let me roll and play in.   So we set up shop on the beach.  Mom took off her sneakers (daddy thought she was crazy..there may be dog poop in the sand?!?!) but mom wanted to be near me when I went in  the water.  And then mom made a big mistake.  She unclasped me from my  leash because all the other doggies on the beach were free and stayed by their owners.  I took off to the closest big dog (yep I have a thing for big dogs..since I think I’m one myself) and mom had to track me down.  So she put me back on the leash.  Then after a couple of minutes she tried again and I bolted following those dogs who had already made it back to the parking lot.  I was heading towards the busy road.  Mom was freaking out calling my name and I wouldn’t listen.  So picture this.  Mom with no shoes on trying to sprint across a beach and sand (hard for you humans to run on) then across a gravel trail (ouch) and finally to the parking lot and she was like a football player with a tackle.  I knew I was in trouble, mom was upset.  It just wasn’t a good thing.  After mom recovered and I gave her a few licks to say I’m sorry she put on my retractable leash and back to the beach we went.

The ocean kinda freaked me out.  I checked it out and even got my paws wet but those waves just kept coming after me, I would run back then they retreated, I followed them, and back they came.  The water was also kinda chilly too. Here is a photo of me seeing the ocean for the first time.

Even though waves were iffy there was a marsh area that I loved.  Water, sand and no waves.  I ran and splashed and played with other dogs.

I also met a Westie on the beach and we played.  I had so much fun! and I want to go back tomorrow!

You coast people are so lucky you have the beach!  So image how I look now, wet and covered in sand from head to toe from rolling and playing.  Next we decided to go on  a walk to try to dry me off.  So we headed toward the golden gate bridge.  We stopped in a big field and mommy and daddy flew a kite.  I didn’t like that kite much and barked and barked at it saying get away from here!  Here is a photo of me in the field with the bridge in the background.

Next we headed to a snack bar and San Francisco  parks think of everything.  They even had organic dog jerky for sale!  All I can say is yum!  I convinced mommy to order me more once we got home it is so good!  However, while eating lunch mom got distracted and left the kite on a bench.  So we lost the kite.  I didn’t mind to much I didn’t like it much anyway.  But mom was sad.

Next up another hill to the golden gate bridge.  We walked and walked and walked and once up on the bridge we walked some more.  It was very windy and cars were racing by us!  It was kinda scary but I was a big boy and trekked on.  Once we got out on the bridge I looked over.

Oh my land we were so high up!  But it was so pretty up there.  Here is a photo of me and daddy.

See I couldn’t keep my eyes off the edge.  Don’t tell the bridge officials but I marked it..so now the golden gate bridge is mine! (insert evil dog laugh here)  On the way back daddy carried me because I was so tired.  Overall Day 3 was amazing and if your ever in San Fransisco my dog friends convince your parents to take you to Crissy Fields!!
