Pet Hotel/Doggie Day Care

Written by Rachel Phelps

Hello World!!! Recently, I had the chance to review a Petsmart Pet Hotel. My local Petsmart does not have one so when my parents decided to go to St. Louis for the day, I thought wow a road trip, I want to go and can I do a pet hotel/doggie day camp review? Well mommy of course caved when I gave her the sad puppy dog look and say ok get in the car. And off we went. Of course the only pet hotel in all of St. Louis had to be on the far west side of town and we arrive from the east so it took a little longer than expected to get there, get me checked in, and all the paperwork filled out. They have a pretty strict vaccination policy and mommy had to bring all my records. They require DPP, Bordetella, and Rabies shots and they do a pawsitively safe pet evaluation and assessment. Which pretty much meant I got a “pat” down from an a employee to see if I had any bumps, open places, and I guess a 5th leg or an extra tail hehehe. So then he took me into the play room. There were actually two rooms one for big dogs (I wanted to go into there….) and then the small dog room. There must have been 20 dogs and as soon as I arrived I was surrounded. There was noses everywhere on me! It was kinda overwhelming. But the Petsmart employee in the room helped to spread the crowd out so I didn’t freak out. One neat thing about the rooms is that one wall is all glass and anyone in the store can look in. Mommy and Daddy watched me a little while to make sure I was ok and then left. I had fun. I played a lot and sniffed a lot of dogs. I got a lot of exercise as well. Another neat feature is that they have a bone booth where your parents can call and they will bring you to the phone so they can talk to you. However, my parents didn’t call. I told them next time they have to because it makes all the dogs who don’t get phone calls very jealous 🙂 Here are some photos. My friend Tracy who works at my Petsmart noticed the black dog in the back and her advice was “to stay away from Mr. Blue Collar. He’s either real uncomfortable, old and arthritic, or he’s christening the slide. “Hahahaha.
