I was recently in Houston for the week for the Wonder Pet Expo. Since it was a working trip, I had to check out the dog friendly places in this amazing town! One place I went was the Boneyard Dog Park and Drinkery.
I think this is a brilliant idea! We dogs get to play while our rents have beverages and hang out with their friends. Then, if they have too many, they must stay even longer until they can drive and we get more playtime. The Boneyard has a great setup for the humans and the dogs. There is a small building with the bar, human restrooms, and even a dog product retail area. They serve many different types of beer and wine. Out back is a very nice shaded dog park with over 7,000 square feet of fun!
There are picnic tables all around the edges of the park for the humans to hang out. Personally, I liked jumping up on the picnic tables and running up and down them. I met many other pet parents that way! The ground is covered with a wood bark type material so no need to worry about it being muddy if it recently rained. There is a kiddie pool for the dogs to cool off in and water bowls everywhere. There is even a dog wash station in case your dog gets too dirty to put them back in your car. For our safety it is double gated and there are bagging stations in case we “you know what.” It is open until midnight and they have plenty of flood lights to brighten up the place at night. This means that even if your owner is a night owl, no problem, you can still go and play with your friends.
I took some photos but I apologize for the poor quality … it was 9 pm when we went there and it was already dark.
So … next time you’re in Houston, tell your rents to take you to the Boneyard Dog Park and Drinkery at 8150 Washington Ave. I had a blast and I know you will too!

We have something similar to that here in NC. Two that I know of, Lucky Dog Bark & Brew and Dog Bar.
