The @Nutrish Zero Grain Dog Food Championship #Spon

Nutrish Grain Free Dog Food
Written by Rachel Phelps

My pals, it has been super-hot here in Kentucky, so I haven’t been able to go outside very much.  So needless to say, Daisy and I have been very bored Westies!  We have been bugging the rents a lot asking to play fetch, tug-o-war, or go do something fun like a car ride.  Finally, Mom got fed up and said “Go find something to do you two. I’m going to go run some errands.”  She grabbed her wallet and headed out the door.  Then the doorbell rang and it was the UPS man.  I opened the door and barked at him to leave the box just inside the door.  Yes, I admit he was a little freaked out that two Westies opened the door themselves.  He quickly dropped it off and walked super-fast back to his truck … BOL.  When Daisy and I opened the box we found that my pals at Rachael Ray Nutrish had sent me a huge bag of their Zero Grain dog food.  Then, a brilliant idea was born.  Mom DID say find something to do…..

The Contest

nutrish_grain_free-3I had recently gone to Coney Island in Brooklynn and ate dinner at the famous Nathan’s Hotdogs. While we were there, we learned all about their hot dog eating contest. This year the winner ate 70 hot dogs in ten minutes.  Well, my brilliant idea was to have an eating contest for us dogs to see who can eat a bowl of food the quickest.  Daisy was game, but we needed a sponsor like a Nathan’s.  I decided it had to be Nutrish Zero Grain food.  Why?  Well, for one, I eat it every day.  Second, they had just sent us a bag. Surely they sent it for the contest I just made up in my head … right?  Hehehe.

The Prize

nutrish_grain_free-4The prize would be bragging rights, which first and foremost, is the ultimate prize!  I also had an old trophy for winning a best dressed dog costume contest so I “upcycled” it to be the champion cup!

The food – Rachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Food

Nutrish Grain Free Dog FoodRachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Food is a super premium food made with real beef, turkey, or salmon, but without glutens, grains, or fillers.  It also has vitamins and minerals us pups need to have a complete diet.  All the meat comes from cattle, turkey, and bison that only live here in the US.  There is also no poultry by-product meals, artificial ingredients, or colors, which is great for us allergy pups!   In other words, it is just really good healthy food for us!

You can pick up your own bag at most places your rents would normally shop for groceries.  For more information about this Nutrish  food, click here Nutrish Zero Grain  and to find a store near you, visit the store locator.

The contest – On your mark, get set, go!

We climbed up on the table and poured each of ourselves a bowl.  I also set up my video camera to record it just in case it was too close to call.  To start, we agreed to count down from three in our head and then start eating.  Daisy was so excited she forgot what number she was on so she got behind from the start.  Here is the video of the contest.

You probably noticed that the video cut off. I didn’t want to show you how upset Mom was when she came back from her errands to see us up on the kitchen table eating huge bowls of Nutrish dog food when it wasn’t even dinner time.  She wasn’t happy that I had challenged my sis to this crazy contest and she lectured me on bloat and how dangerous it is for dogs because it affects pups that eat too quickly.  Once she felt we understood what we did wrong, she sent us back to our crates to reflect on how bad of dogs we were.

Lessons Learned

  1. Nutrish Zero Grain Food is yummy!
  2. Dog food eating contests are not a good idea.
  3. Don’t open bags of dog food without your rents permission.
  4. Don’t climb up on the kitchen table … ever.
  5. You know I would probably do it again if I could, even if I always get in trouble, because I’m a terrier … hehehe.
