Mutt Monday Adoptable Animals

Meet Smokey

Animal Education and Rescue Libertyville, IL

Smokey came to us because his owner who had him since he was a puppy was evicted. He has had to overcome separation anxiety as he was terribly distraught and used to being with someone at home all day. He does NOT do well in a crate but is housebroken. He has come a long way since July and does fine left alone now. He is friendly with adults, kids and other dogs but definitely prefers men and would probably do better as an only dog. Because he is an 80# rough and tumble wilful type of dog, he would do better with older kids and an experienced dog owner. He is aggressive when it comes to food or bones. He likes cats but does charge/chase them. He’s quite vocal and makes a good watchdog. He loves to go for walks and car rides. Smokey would make a great companion for a retired man who could give him a lot of attention
