Recently, we were invited to attend the fifth annual P&G Paws for a Cause shelter makeover event. In case you didn’t know, P&G makes Iams, Eukanuba, Innova, Evo, and Natura pet food. Have you seen the TV show Extreme Home Makeover? Well, this is the same idea except for a deserving animal shelter/rescue.
On October 4th, 2012, over three hundred and fifty P&G Pet care employees took over Circle Tail, a service dog organization and shelter. Circle Trail’s mission is to provide service and hearing dogs at no charge. They also are a limited intake shelter that has dog adoptions. Finally, they offer obedience and training classes, education programing, boarding, and grooming services to the public.
Despite only being about a half an hour away from P&G Pet care headquarters in Ohio, it took a lot of coordination to get that many people and all the needed supplies transported to the location. There was a fleet of charter buses and a couple of fearless P&G employees coordinating the event. When the employees arrived they were ready to make a difference.
The Circle Tail volunteers and dogs were so excited when the volunteers arrived!
The day started with Jason Taylor from P&G External Relations welcoming everyone and Sarah Castano from Iams announcing that for every volunteer hour worked four meals are being donated for the Iams Home for the Holidays campaign. By the end of the day, 10,000 pet meals were donated by the P&G employees hard work! How amazing is that!
After the kick-off everyone was divided into teams.
Mom was even put to work! She was the official poop scooper. Just kidding, but she did pick up a pile dangerously located close to a door.
Each group had a specific job and they quickly scattered all over the property to get started. Some of the jobs included:
By the end of the day Circle Tail looked amazing! Check out part two tomorrow for the amazing after pictures. Yes, aren’t I a mischievous little white dog! I’m going to make you wait to find out how the fifth annual P&G Paws for a Cause turned out!
