Cute Cartoon Portraits Review

Written by Rachel Phelps

Recently, I was approached by a great artist named Joanna Goldman from Cute Cartoon Portraits who wanted to make a cartoon portrait of me.  I thought, why not, let’s see what she comes up with.  I am a very unique dog so I’m sure this will be fun!

To start the process, I sent Joanna several photos of me so she could see what I look like from all my handsome angles.  Then, she asked what color background I wanted.  I picked blue so Mom could put it up in her office and it would match (don’t tell her, it is her Christmas gift from me!).

Joanna used her unique style of cartoon art to portray me with angular box shapes and straight lines that created a really neat effect.  Also, I liked that she included my eyebrows!  She created a rough draft drawing and e-mailed it to me for feedback.  She had made my collar a blue that blended in a little too much with the background such that it looked like I had a floating head … hehehe.  I was slightly afraid to tell her I wanted to change something (you hear all these stories of difficult artists) but she was awesome about it.  We had a good laugh over my doggie view and she gladly changed the color of my collar.

After making the changes, she sent me a final high-resolution file for me to take to my local printer to print whatever size I wanted based on where I wanted to put the portrait.  I had a grander idea.  You know me, I never do anything “small.”

I uploaded the file to an online website that makes canvas prints from graphic files and photos.  I ordered it in an 8 x 10 size with a pretty white frame.  So now, Mom will have a nice framed work of art of me!

Cute Cartoon Portraits by Joanne Goldman is a very novel idea to make a fun portrait of your pet.  I give them two paws up because for one they made me look good, and second, I now have my Mom’s Christmas shopping done!  Hehehe.
