As you are probably aware, I am a big advocate for helping my fellow brother and sister animals in need. I have learned that for every bad person out there who hurts animals, there is a hero among us that stands up for what is right! One of those great people is MMA fighter Gordon Shell.
Gordon was told by doctors that he must stop fighting because he has a bad heart that is failing. Against doctors’ orders, Gordon is going to fight one last time because he wants his last fight to make a difference! Instead of utilizing proceeds from his last cage fight for personal medical services, he is donating most of the proceeds to a Detroit animal rescue shelter. On September 15th, MMA fight fans will pack Meadow Brook Theatre in Rochester Hills, MI to see Gordon’s last fight and to help end dog fighting in Detroit. Tickets for the event are available through TicketMaster online.
The Motion Picture Institute is producing a documentary on Gordon’s last fight calling it “Dog Fighter.” Douglas Schulze and Chuck Grady will be directing a documentary film of Gordon Shell’s training and life leading up to his last fight in September. Several graduates and current students of The Motion Picture Institute will also be on hand to help film the last fight.
Even if you can’t make it to the match, you can still watch the documentary and support Gordon’s cause. To learn more, go to: http://www.mpifilm.com/blog/The-Dog-Fighter-MMA-Standout-Gordon-Shell_AE44.html
We wish Gordon the best on his fight and I know us dogs will be rooting for him!
