It’s Bath Time with Lu & Coco! (Review)

Written by Rachel Phelps

I met the owner/creator Jamie Williams of Lu & Coco at Barkworld this fall when she spoke to the conference about her experiences with selling online. She gave me a good belly rub and pat on the head as well! She asked me if I would try out the shampoos and conditioners from her product line. I said of course! Now you all know me and how much I just “love” baths (not) so I delegated this very, very important product test to my trusty sidekick, intern, and brother Elvis! He for some weird reason just gets smelly and needs many more baths than me. So next time I heard my mom say yuck Elvis you really stink today, I gently pushed over the bottles of Lu & Coco her way.

Lu & Coco is a line of natural and organic pet products that doesn’t use chemicals to get us clean. That is always good since odds are during the bath we will get some of the soap in our eyes and mouth. They have shampoos, conditioners, balms, and calming mists. None of the products are tested on animals. Hehehe well I guess you can say yes they are used on animals but the ingredients are not tested on us like in a lab.

First the shampoo Elvis tried was Pampered Pooch (76% organic). I of course supervised the whole thing for blog quality control and yes I did laugh at wet Elvis! The key ingredients are :

  • Grapeseed Oil – This highly prized oil is bursting with antioxidants and phytonutrients for the skin.
  • Lavender Oil – traditionally used in formations to help relax and relieve stress, and heal burns and wounds.
  • Australian Cehami Extract – contain unprecedented skin renewal, hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties.

For the conditioner it was Coca Kiss (88% organic) . It has a great light citrus scent and made Elvis’s fur all shinny and very, very soft. The key ingredients are:

  • Shea Butter – improves the healing process, improves moisture retention, soothes and protects the skin from environmental damage; Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A & E
  • Avocado Oil – This highly therapeutic oil is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B5 (Panthothenic acid), Vitamin D, E, minerals, protein, lecithin and fatty acids. It is a useful, penetrating nutrient for dry skin.
  • Panthenol (Vitamin B5) – Improves the moisture retention capacity of dogs coat. Also has an anti-inflammatory and anti-itching effect. Makes coat easier to brush and improves its condition and sheen.

What mom loved about these products was the pump on the bottles. So many dog products have flip top lids where your rents have to try to get the shampoo out with one hand while holding us with the other so we don’t jump out of the tub and make a run for it. With Lu & Coco you can leave the bottles sitting on the edge of the tub and with one hand quickly get the products out. The only down side she found to the product was that the very pretty labels were not water proof so when they got wet the ink ran some.

Don’t worry I did test the product just didn’t get any photos of it. Bright me decided to roll in a mud puddle the next day so I got to test out both the shampoo and conditioner! I came out bright white with shinny fur and got alot of compliments. To order your own bottle to go: www.luandcoco.com and tell them Preston sent you!
