Mike Arms/Iams Hero Award

Written by Rachel Phelps

Well it is no surprise that I LOVE Mike Arms and the Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC) in San Diego and yesterday a super special award was given out at the Iams headquarters to a very deserving group. Mike Arms the president of the HWAC and founder of the Iams Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption program presented the first annual Mike Arms/Iams Hero Award to the Austin Humane Society for their extraordinary relief effort in the recent Austin wildfires. I’m sure you remember that those terrible fires were all over the news (yes dogs do watch the news!). It destroyed over 1,400 homes and many people had to leave very quickly and needed a place for their pets. The Austin Humane Society took the lead and coordinated the relief efforts for all the animals that were displaced. These great people created temporary housing areas and provided food, housing, and medical care for all those pets. I know a disaster like this is my rents worst nightmare because what would they do with us? I’m sure the Austin Humane Society provided a great piece of mind to those families in the Austin area.

The Mike Arms/Iams Hero Award is given to a person or animal organization that exemplifies the commitment and passion for the lives of orphaned animals similar to what Mike Arms has been doing for so many years. The award is a grant to the organization and a plaque to display.

So all of us at prestonspeaks.com give a big woof out to the Austin Humane Society for helping out so many animals in need!
