Pets In Joplin, Missouri

Written by Rachel Phelps

HIiPals,
I’m sure you have seen on TV the devastation that that occurred in Joplin, Missouri from a F5 tornado. Well beside all the humans in need there are alot of pets that have also lost their home, their humans, or could be lost. So I was wondering what can a little dog like me do to help and my friends at Iams and The Daily Oskar just sent me an e-mail that I wanted to share.

First, two paws up to my friends at Iams and Eukanuba . They have such a big heart for us pets! P&G has donated nearly 8 tons (33,125 bowls) of dog and cat food to help the animals in Joplin, Missouri that were displaced by the recent tornadoes. The food was distributed to several locations throughout the region to help save the lives of the many dogs and cats that were affected. Also last month they sent nearly 12 tons of food to Arkansas and Alabama as well.

My favorite breed rescue Westie Rescue Southeast which covers the state of Alabama rallied the troops and sent a emergency response team down there. We collected food and sent a trailer load full to them to help out. Here is a photo of what we sent.

Finally, your thinking thats great they are helping but what can I do to help the animals in Joplin? The Joplin Humane Society has set up a registry on Amazon.com of items they need. Here is the link and Amazon will ship it directly to them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wedding/9NXFU5BUZCLK

I know I’m borrowing my mom’s credit card now and sending them some needed supplies! I hope you will do the same!
