To fix or not to fix?

Written by Rachel Phelps

Hello world!  I bet your surprised that a dog has an opinion about the whole spay and neuter debate especially since I am a pure-breed.  I don’t know all the facts and  I didn’t have much say in the final decision to have me fixed.   I went into the vet one morning, fell asleep in the crate and woke up missing my man parts.  It was honestly an unwelcome surprise but the pain pills made me all happy and at that point and for the next day or two I was kinda out of it.  I think all doggies need homes and fixing animals prevents alot of puppies from being put down at kill shelters.  However, us fixed dogs also will always have regrets too.  First, no girlfriends.  I think with my great personality I could have really been a “ladies man.”   I also just know that if I wasn’t fixed I would have been  the next Westminster  champion.  Heck, I just want to meet Sadie and dog shows was my way in to woo the future Mrs. Preston.  Oh well. Here is a photo of Sadie the 2010 Westminster best of show,..see we could have made such a cute couple, we have the same tail.

But anyway back to the topic at hand. I found a great website that has both pros and cons on the procedures.

One positive thing I can say about  getting snipped was I am calmer and I don’t have the need to raise my leg and mark so much with is really good for the parent’s carpets and furniture.  Finally here is a funny cartoon about the topic.
