Adopt a Westie (or other dog)

Written by Rachel Phelps

I am a big fan of doggies getting good homes.  Even though I was a pure breed and was picked from the littler not all doggies are so lucky. I asked mommy why some doggies end up at the animal shelter and she told me that not all pet parents can take care of their doggie like she and daddy can.  Dogs are a lot of responsibilities  and to be a good pup parent you have to be able to have the money to pay for our food, toys, shots, and even our treats.  Mommy joked that if she added up how much she spends on me she could go on a nice long vacation. She also said doggies need training so we know right from wrong and if a dog isn’t trained they can be labeled a “bad dog.”  Also, every dog has a unique personality and some pet parents don’t realize how their dog is going to be.  Like a great dame well is going to get really big,  a terrier is going to be bossy, and a  collie is going to like to herd your cats.

Petfinder.com is a great place to find a new fur-child.  All our local shelters and rescue groups are listed.   You can check out all the cut pictures of the doggies, cats, and even small animals that need homes.   There are even breed specific groups that if you want a Westie (you know you do!) you can contact them and apply to be a puppy mommy or daddy.

I keep telling mommy I want a friend but daddy says no..I already have three cats you know.  What do you think? Do I need a doggie brother or sister?

  • Preston, we LOVE reading your blogs. You’re one educated little pup with a cause. 🙂 Keep them coming! Cricket was a stray/pound puppy herself so we especially appreciate you spreading the word.
