SUREswivel 360 Degree Swiveling Pet Tie-out – Product Review

Written by Rachel Phelps

I don’t have a fenced in yard (I wish I did … Dad says it is expensive since we have a big corner lot, but he keeps saying we will get you that fence soon).  Instead, we have a tie-out for when Elvis and I need to go out to do our business.  The end of the tie-out where we are clipped on stays in the house through the closed door when it isn’t being used.  When we go out, our rents clip it onto our collar and then open the door to let us out to run and do what we need to do.  When we are done, we scratch the door and they let us back in.  Don’t worry, they are always watching us out the window.  So when I had the opportunity to test out the SUREswivel, 360 Degree Swiveling Pet Tie-out, we jumped at the chance.

This SUREswivel system has a dual bearing built-in to prevent the kinks a typical tie-out experiences.  The cord is attached to a rotating hook so the cord also will not tangle around the anchor point that can cause stress and breakage.  This free movement reduces tension on the cord, which is great for us dogs.

I had my maintenance staff (Dad) install it.  He said it was super easy to install.  It has a six-point anchoring base.  The stakes have a spiraled design.  This unique anchoring system provides three times the holding strength of a standard stake.  All Dad needed was a hammer to tap them into the ground.  The instructions say they are also easy to take out for travelling but we haven’t tried it.  Here are some photos of Dad hard at work!

I asked SUREswivel how much this tie-out could withstand since our tie-out stays outside year-round and gets used several times a day.  They told me it holds 1000lbs of pull force.  The product is made from nylon and fiberglass strands.  WOW, I know of some strong dogs, but none with the kind of super dog strength that would be required to pull that out of the ground.

sureswivel2_wpWe have been testing the SUREswivel Pet Tie-Out for several months now and are completely happy with it.  Mom and Dad feel very comfortable and confident that it won’t come out of the ground allowing us to get loose when we go out to potty.  Over all, we give it two paws up!

  • Wow! This sounds like a superb tie-our, and the answer to our constant dilemma here. We use a tie-out, too, just because our yard isn’t fenced-in enough for Houdini (Chester BOL)…it’s hard to find something strong enough that still allows us to run! Happy outside times to you 🙂
