My pals, I bet you can’t guess what my favorite dog breed is? I’ll give you a hint. They are white, super smart, so very handsome, and fearless! I’ll give you another hint – it starts with “west highland” … YEP, it is the West Highland White Terrier, or for short, the Westie. This May, Spring Naturals decided to feature the Westie as their Best of Breed dog. And to top it off, they asked me, Preston, to fill them in on what makes Westies so special!
So I told them:
- Westies are big dogs, well in their minds anyway! They are true terriers that have plenty of confidence, intelligence, and a huge personality!
- Westie tails – It is long and strong enough to pull the dog out of a hole by the tail in case they get stuck. It doesn’t hurt a Westie to pull their tail (but that doesn’t mean they will like it).
- Westies excel at the AKC sport of Earthdog. This sport involves man-made underground tunnels that the dogs must navigate, while scenting a rodent.
Each week in May they are featuring a fun Westie fact on their Facebook and Twitter accounts. But the best part is, they are also featuring an adoptable Westie from Westie Rescue Southeast to help spread the word and get them adopted. Here are a few they are featuring on their social media channels.
Spring Naturals also sent me a couple of bags of their grain free treats to try. I have to say, they are very, very, yummy! I taste tested the 95% beef treats and the 95% chicken and lamb treats. These treats are made with real beef or chicken and lamb, whole vegetables, and whole fruits. Howdy Preston! I, too, am a WWHT and proud of it! Our breed is best for many reasons. First, we have a bright sunny outlook for each day. Second, we are love bundled in a small package with a big heart. We are true unconditional love personified. We give the best hugs, kisses and we love to snuggle with our favorite human companion. Third, we are prime physical specimens as we can run like the wind and quickly turn on a dime. And, we love the chase game we play with our Squirrel neighbors…fun! We have a fun personality and we are rascals! We Westies are by far the Best Breed!
Miss Bertie, I think your description of us is the best I have ever read! Mom said we are sure rascals hehe. We don’t have any squirrels where I live (our neighborhood trees aren’t big enough) but the rare time I see one at a park I go crazy hehe
