Tiaras & ‘Tails’ Doggy Proms

Written by Rachel Phelps

I am so jealous!  I want to go to prom!  I even have an amazing tux and I’m sure I could ask my best friend Bells to be my prom date too.  My pals at Best Friends Pet Care recently held the most talked about doggie social event at all their locations — our very own Pet Prom!

So I asked my pals at Best Friends to tell us how it went!

It’s prom season for teens everywhere — and that includes the canine kind!  More than 600 doggy couples – decked out in bow ties and boas, tiaras and tails attended one of 38 Doggy Proms hosted by Best Friends Pet Care at its doggy day camp centers across the country.

The camp room at each Best Friends center was decorated for the special event with a Starry Night theme of dark blue and silver streamers, stars and a disco ball.  And, just like at high school proms everywhere, a Prom King and Queen will be crowned at each event. The staff, also wore prom attire, organized games and doggy dancing and toke photos of each canine couple to send home to mom and dad. Pet parents could log in from home or the office to Best Friends doggy cams to watch the fun on their computers or smartphones.

“Our clients love special events like this,” said Bruce Blaine, manager of Best Friends Chicago Pet Care Center. “We strive to make doggy day camp entertaining for the pet parents while we provide fun, healthy exercise and socialization for their pets.”

Here are a few of my favorites.  Notice that the Westie won prom king at the Indianapolis location!  Way to represent dubby!

Did I mention I am super jealous.  I wish I lived closer to a Best Friends Pet Care Center because I would ask mom to go all the time!  They run the doggie daycare at BarkWorld every year and I have so much fun there.  I can’t wait to see my Atlanta pals in a few months. Wonder if I can convince them to throw another prom there so I can win prom king? hehehe.
