Sentry Calming Collar review

Written by Rachel Phelps

Some people say West Highland White Terriers are hyper dogs.  For the record, I totally disagree.  Yes, we like to run zoomies (running fast all over the house), and are always curious, but what you may call as hyper we just call being a Westie!

When my pals at Sergeant Pets and Dogtime Media asked me to try out a calming collar … I thought sure, why not?  If there is anything I can share with my pals that will help keep a hyper dog living in their loving home that is great!

The Sentry Calming Collar uses pheromone technology to modify stress behavior in us K9’s.  These pheromones mimic the natural pheromones used by a mommy dog to calm their puppies.  This means that if we smell it, it reminds us that we are safe and helps us cope with stressful situations.

According to Sergeant, these collars have been effective in reducing or eliminating the following stress-related behaviors problems in dogs:

  • Aggression
  • Barking Incessantly
  • Begging for attention
  • Biting
  • Chewing
  • Digging
  • Fear of loud noises (like thunderstorms and fireworks)
  • Fear of a new environment
  • Fear of travel or visiting the vet and/or groomer
  • Inappropriate marking
  • Not coming when called
  • Pulling on the leash
  • Scratching
  • Whining for attention

Also, the collar and everything on it are non-toxic.

The collar is supposed to last up to thirty days once your rents open the package.  The retail price is around $15-$20 but here is a link to get a coupon: www.sentrypetcare.com/goodbehavior

I bet your wondering … did it work for me?  Well, I’m such a well-behaved boy that Mom couldn’t tell the difference … BOL.  But seriously, Mom did say I seemed more laid back during all our holiday festivities than last year.

Also, if you have tried the calming collar before, please comment below and let us know what you think!

Note:  We received an e-mail telling us that there is something simular for cats as well called feliway.
