Owensboro Bark in the Park Event!

Written by Rachel Phelps

I LOVE dog-friendly events and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE when they are for a good cause.  Well, if you live in Western Kentucky/Southern Indiana, you’re in luck.  This Saturday it is Bark in the Park time!

What is it?  Bark in the Park is a Relay for Life event benefiting the American Cancer Society.  This is a non-competitive walking event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer.

Here are all the details!

Date:  THIS Saturday, September 29th, 2012

Time: 10 am – 1 pm

Place: Panther Creek Park – Feather Landing

Cost:  Registration for the first dog is $20 and each additional dog is $10 (this includes a tee-shirt for the human – or a really big dog I guess … hehehe, bandanas for us doggies, and five tickets for activities).

What is going on? Games for your doggie, a photo booth, a silent auction (I have a basket you will really want to bid on), nail trimming, demonstrations, and event contests such as best costume, best trick, etc.

There will also be an adoption event going on so if you don’t have a doggie you can pick one up while at the event!  Ok, I know you don’t just pick one up, you have to fill out an application, get approved, etc.  Regardless, if you’re in the market for a forever friend, this is the place to come to check out your options!  Some of the groups attending include: SPARKYS, Daviess County Animal Control, McLean County Animal Shelter, Hancock County Animal Shelter, and Ohio County Animal Shelter.

Finally, B.U.L.L.I.E  Nation will be on site for a low cost microchipping and shot clinic!

We went last year and it was so much fun!  Plus, it is for a great cause too!  For more information, to go their Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/events/467573876600446/
