Purina ProCare Products Review and Meet Charlie

Written by Rachel Phelps

Recently, I received a sample kit from Purina ProCare and since Charlie isn’t completely house trained yet I thought he would be the perfect dog to test out the Ultra Dry Advanced Training Pads and the Pet Stain and Odor Eliminator spray. I asked him to be a product tester and he said “No problem! I would be glad to pee in the house just to help you out!”

First, I want you all to say hi to my new foster brother Charlie! He has some health issues and is looking for his forever home. We have become pals and even though he is a shy Westie we like to hang out and play. I have also taught him about cats and how much fun they are to chase (but watch out for the claws)!

Recently, I received a sample kit from Purina ProCare and since Charlie isn’t completely house trained yet I thought he would be the perfect dog to test out the Ultra Dry Advanced Training Pads and the Pet Stain and Odor Eliminator spray. Since Charlie spends time in a crate when the rents are not home mom put an advanced training pad in the bottom of the crate. What is neat about this product is that the pads are very thick and have the micro weave design/technology on the front. According to the box it absorbs the mess faster than other puppy pads do. Thus, they will be dryer, quicker. There is also a super-absorbent gel core. The bottom has a thick backing as well. I know when I was in the potty training phase we used some puppy pads that the “stuff” would go right through it. Then mom had a big mess to clean up. This backing stops the leaks in their tracks. Now Charlie is a chewer like I was at his age (he is 10 months old) and in true Westie fashion he likes to shred the puppy pads. However, these pads stand up very well. He wasn’t able to completely destroy them! He just chewed up the corners some.

Charlie has a condition called EPI or Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency . This means that part of the pancreas that produces digestive enzymes no longer functions properly. As a result, he can’t digest his food. So he has to have special medicine that is mixed in his food and a special diet. But don’t worry he is a happy, healthy pup with his medication. However, that also means he can have big accidents for a little dog. Since we are working on the house training it wasn’t long until we had our first smelly accident. So mom pulled out the Purina ProCare Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator. This spray gets out stains and smells out of carpet and upholstery. It uses an enzyme formula that breaks down and eliminates the stains and odors. This product got the smell out and dad couldn’t even tell where the accident was when he got home for work. We think it is kinda funny that Charlie didn’t get in trouble due to enzymes…this dog is in serious need of enzymes for everything from his pancreas to his carpet and bedding!

But overall Charlies gives the PurinaProCare products two paws up in his first product review! And if you are interested in giving Charlie a forever home contact Westie Rescue Southeast here!
