The American Family has Gone to Us Dogs!

Written by Rachel Phelps

Hi my pals! I was recently sent some Milo’s Kitchen treats to review. Check out my review here — Milo’s Kitchen Home-Style Dog Treats Review.. But as part of their press release they revealed the results of a survey they commissioned to see what the average pet owner thought and did for their pets. The results were very interesting and I have to say very positive for us pooches!

77% talked about their dogs as if they were human family members. I have to say it is about time..I’m just as much a part of your family as your husband and kids!

54% consider themselves to be pet parents instead of pet owners. I hate the term owner.. I’m not a piece of property like your TV or car! I think, need oxygen, and even to your dismay sometimes poop on the carpet. So yes you’re my parents, not my owners!

58% of dog owners are comfortable calling themselves “mommy” and “daddy”. You humans wear need the title proudly! We are proud that your own mom and dad!

10% have celebrated Mother’s Day or Father’s day with their dog! I always make sure that I have a card and gift to give. I don’t want to leave them out on these special days.

72% of dog owners with children apply the same disciplinary standards to their dogs as they do with their kids. Lucky for me my parents don’t have any human puppies yet. I think I would like having a kid around..but not sure about sharing my mom and dad with a human puppy but I guess I would have to deal with it.

23% have photo albums dedicated to just pictures of their dogs. My mom is guilty as charged..I have a couple of photo albums of me. 🙂

16% have started scrapbooks for their dogs — yep I have those too–2 so far hehehehe

62% of family dogs have their own chair or bed, and 13% have their own room. I do not have any of that…MOM I want my own room now!

81% of dog owners know their pet’s birthday and have celebrated it at least once. My parents are also guilty as charged. I had a big party last year– Preston’s Very Merry Christmas and Birthday Party.

77% have admitted to buying their dog a present for their birthday. I was treated very well by my rents last year..they got me my very own fire hydrant

On average dog owners have about seven photos of their dogs displayed in their homes or offices. I have way more than seven..but then again I’m a model so I have alot of great photos to put up hehehehe.

Overall, I have to say way to go pet parents..it sounds like you are finally getting it we are part of the family and we like presents too on our barkdays!
