Real Westie Dogs

Written by Rachel Phelps

A few months ago I entered a contest about real dogs. So I let my inner real dog come out! I didn’t win but I thought you would like to read my vent! hehehehe

I may not look like a “real dog” because I’m little. At first glance I am a cotton ball with ears and black eyes. But I’m a westie and we are as real of a dog as it gets. I hate sitting on laps, despise getting brushed, if there is a puddle I’m in it! If there is a fence I’m digging under it! If there is a cat I’m chasing it! Don’t even think about trying to cut my nails or you will see some westie-tude! I am the most confident dog you will ever meet. True to my AKC breed standard I “possess no lack of self esteem!” I also have a huge bark and are not afraid to use it whenever someone comes to my door, when I’m bored, when I’m happy, and when I want your attention. I’m a real dog ,just in a little white body!

My favorite real dog behavior is shredding! I love to tear things up either it be a toy, a pillow, my bed, or even those puppy pads my mommy tried to get me to use. Shredding gives me a sense of power. I am telling that toy to take that. I may be small but you’re going to pay for squeaking! Once I’m done and there is stuffing all over the room I know I’m master of my doggie domain!!

So I demand that you let us canines just be real dogs. If your dog is white don’t expect us to stay clean either. Let us have fun and run crazy in some mud every now and then. It is time for us dogs to take back our “dog-ness” and tell our parents let us be real dogs again!!!!
