How Well Have you Trained Your Pet Parents?

Written by Rachel Phelps

I thought I would turn the tables on our humans to see how well we have trained you.  I adapted this survey from a bark buster newsletter (Volume II Issue 4) So doggies fill out the survey below.

1. If you go to the door, does your parent immediately get up and let you out?
Always ____ Sometimes _____ Rarely/Never ____

2. When you come over to your parents and nudge them do they pet you?
Always ____ Sometimes _____ Rarely/Never ____

3. If we take something do they have to chase you to get it back?
Always ____ Sometimes _____ Rarely/Never ____

4. Do they pick up the toy to play when you bring it to them?
Always ____ Sometimes _____ Rarely/Never ____

5. Do you (the dog) let your parents know when it’s time to feed you?
Always ____ Sometimes _____ Rarely/Never ____

6. Does putting a leash on turn into play time for you?
Always ____ Sometimes _____ Rarely/Never ____

7. Will you do anything for a treat but then will ignore your parents when you know they don’t have one?
Always ____ Sometimes _____ Rarely/Never ____

8. Can you get your parents to give in when you do your sad face?
Always ____ Sometimes _____ Rarely/Never ____

9. If your sitting on the couch will your parents go sit somewhere else rather than bother you?
Always ____ Sometimes _____ Rarely/Never ____

10.  Does your parents step around or go around you when your laying in the hallway or doorway?
Always ____ Sometimes _____ Rarely/Never ____

Give 10 points for always, 5 points for sometimes and 1 point for rarely/never

80-100  You have trained your owners well.  They give in to almost every request you have. You have taken on the role of pack leader.  However, this isn’t a good situation for your mom and dad. they need to be the  leaders in the home.

60-79  You have done a good job training the parents.  You are more than likely to have selective hearing and will do things when you get something out of it like a treat.

40-59 Ok your situation is confusing and frustrating.  It seems like you are really two dogs– the good one and the bad one.

20-49 Your relationship with your parents is pretty good.  There may be a few issues but they are usually easily forgiven

10-19 – Ok you haven’t trained your owners at all.  But that means your a well behaved or you wouldn’t admit on the survey that your  parents wrapped around your little paw 🙂

I filled out the survey and my results was 57 and yes I have two personalities good Preston and bad dog Preston. But aren’t all celebrities difficult? BOL
