Hello world! I have an exciting event coming up for you local dogs. It is “Gone to the Dogs” at Combest pool in Owensboro. It is August 8th (This Sunday) from 6-8 pm. Dogs cost $7 and pet parents get in free.
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy I can barely wait. (insert sarcasm here!) I went for the first time last year and only the main pool was open. So I was super excited and I jumped right in with my collar and leash on. I wanted to be with the other dogs. I think I scared my parents because mommy wasn’t even in the water to help me, the water was 4 feet deep (I’m not that tall—only 11inches), and no one had any idea if I could swim or not. But lucky for me my doggie knowledge kicked in and I didn’t sink to the bottom like a rock. I can actually do a mean doggie paddle! However, then I got scared because I was in water over my head and swam right back to the edge of the pool and I wanted out of that water now! It was so tiring to doggie paddle and whenever I was put in the water I swam right over to my mom and tried to climb up on her shoulder and head I entered the shake contest but I didn’t win..I’m just not big enough to get water everywhere compared to those 80-90 pound dogs. I wished the kiddie pool was open. I love running in water and splashing just not swimming. However, mommy is taking me again and I promised I would try swimming again for the sake of the blog. I’m a doggie blog reporter and I have to cover all the big dog social events of the year. But being the faithful assistant mommy is to me she got me a doggie life jacket so I can just float around in the pool , mingle with the other dogs, and not have to swim. I like how she thinks!
Here is the info from the press release:
The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the seventh annual “Gone to the Dogs” event this summer. On August 8, Combest Pool will hold an open swim session for dogs and their owners from 6-8 p.m. In case of inclement weather the event will take place on August 9. Dogs of all sizes are welcome; admission to the pool is $7.00 per dog, and the owner gets in FREE!
The evening will consist of prizes, giveaways, and contests including best water retrieve, fastest dog paddle, and owner/dog look alike. Representatives from pet supply businesses, pet resorts, pet training and kennel centers, and veterinary offices will be on hand for all your questions and needs. I hope to see you there, I’ll be the Westie floating around in a bright orange life jacket!
