As an Amazing Pet Expo official blog ambassador we learn about wonderful animal rescue organizations that will be at upcoming shows. Cleveland Underdog Rescue is one of those that will be at the  Cleveland Pet Expo at the Cleveland Convention Center THIS SATURDAY (September 7, 2013) from 10 am – 6 pm with great animals available for adoption.

About The Cleveland Underdog Rescue

Cleveland Underdog Rescue is comprised of a dedicated group of volunteers whose mission it is to provide homeless, abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs a safe haven where they will receive medical care, nutrition, and love until a “forever home” is found; to reduce the number of unwanted pets by spaying and neutering all dogs in our program, and to promote the message that a pet is a lifelong commitment.

Meet Harlow

IMG_7755_(1)Harlow is a young female terrier.  Still full of that puppy energy. She is a smart girl and just needs someone to give her some direction. Harlow is spayed and fully vaccinated.

Meet Big Head Ted

540016_416999361661394_1086373244_nTed is a male American Pit Bull Terrier.   Big Head Ted, as the City of Cleveland Kennel volunteers affectionately called the dog in cage #117 – is one of the 27 victims rescued from the dog fighting house in Cleveland on 12/22/2011. When Debby, one of our Underdog volunteers went to the kennel to help walk these dogs, she fell in love with Ted and his “big” personality and even “bigger” heart. So Cleveland Underdog Rescue decided to pull Ted from the kennel, foster him until he is ready for adoption. And no one deserves this more than Ted. He still bears the scars on his back and side from whatever unspeakable hell he was put through. Now you might think that Ted would be cautious of us humans and other dogs, but just the contrary. Big Head Ted loves everybody!! He is just so happy to be in a home where he is loved and has other dogs to play and snuggle with. And even though he loves to run in the yard, he can’t wait to come back inside and make sure you are still nearby. At the fundraiser “Badges for Bullies,” Ted was quite a hit as he wagged his way through the crowd. He even got to meet one of his favorite local celebrities: Dick Goddard! All but one of the seized dogs tested positive for Babesia Gibsoni – a blood disease found in fighting dogs. Although Ted tested positive, he has not shown any symptoms of the disease. Ted is approximately 3 years of age and weighs 42 pounds. He has been neutered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. He is house-trained, crate- trained, and even though Ted enjoys the company of other dogs, he would also love to be the center of your world.
