Meet Cosby

Screen Shot 2013-06-13 at 12.11.37 AMHi there. I’m Cosby. If you are a regular at this web site you are probably familiar with me. My mug shot has been here a long time. I need to be honest about why. First of all I’m a runner! I have a high prey drive and I must follow my nose. There are sooo many critters out there that are just running around & it’s my job to track them. So far I have run 8 times. The only reason I have been caught is because I have a trailing leash that people step on when I stop to catch a scent. My foster parents have done everything they can think of to keep me from running but if there is a way to escape I will find it.

I also love to howl. I get frustrated when I can smell a trail & can’t follow it. If I see another dog I need to call to them too. The one thing that seems to be the biggest drawback is that I am not an affectionate beagle. I don’t like to snuggle & I get nervous if people try to hug me. It’s ok to pet me but please keep your distance. I know none of this sounds too good but there is a solution. I NEED A JOB! What I mean is that I would be great at alerting people when someone is having diabetic issues or about to have an epilepsy attack. I could also be trained to find drugs, detect bedbugs and do almost any job that requires sniffing. I hope you understand that I’m not trained to do any of these things but I am very trainable.

Meet Hickory

Screen Shot 2013-06-13 at 12.13.12 AMHi! I’m Hickory! Are you looking for a snuggle bug? Then I’m your man! I am good for hours and hours of snuggling. Throw in a belly rub and a couple ear scratches and I am yours for life! I am a big snuggle bug though, because I have some Bassett Hound in me as well as Beagle, and weigh in at about 35 pounds.

I also like playing with my foster brothers and sisters, and would love to find a home with another furry friend. I love playing with my toys, too! Foster mom says I do need to work on my manners some more, and she is teaching me appropriate behavior. She says I am learning and improving, but still have a little ways to go.

I can get a little barky sometimes, like when I see a stranger, or another dog. I just want to let them know I’m here! I want to make friends with them. I get a little too excited I guess. Otherwise mom says I’m pretty good on a leash. I’d probably do better in a home where noise isn’t too much of an issue.

I am housetrained, and also crate trained. I’m good at both! I am also really good with kids, although it would be better if the kids were a little older and not too tiny!

I was heartworm positive when Midwest BREW picked me up, but I’ve gone through the treatment to get rid of them, and I am just fine now! I do need the preventative Heartguard once a month, but I don’t mind, because they are pretty tasty little treats! And I think every dog everywhere should be on heartworm preventative, so it’s no big deal!

All in all, I just know I would be the perfect boy for you! Pick me! Pick me! My best snuggles are waiting for you!

So stop by Midwest Beagle Rescue booth at the Steel City Pet Expo and say Preston sent you!
