This past Sunday, our local parks opened up the pool to us doggies for “Gone to the Dogs” event. For a overview see my past blog– Gone to the Dogs — Pool Party! So the day of..mommy packed my bags with my beach towel (yes I have my very own one that is my size and says woof on it!), put on my swim trunks, grabbed my life jacket and off we went. We got to the pool right when they opened it and there were already a lot of dogs. First, I went to go sign up for the door prizes and talk to my pals at the Petsmart table. Duke my three-legged pal was there with Miss Amber and I finally got to meet Bayliss and Dottie my facebook pals who are both weimaraners . I think I was a hit with my swim trunks on! I entered the swimsuit contest but a yorkie with a pink poka-dot swimsuit beat me! But how can I compete against a bikini! Mommy decided not to enter me in the trick contest since it didn’t go to well last time..I get stage fright. So it was time to go swimming. Mommy got into the pool with me which was very nice. I jumped in the first time and I guess I forgot how it WAS NOT fun. After a few seconds I panicked and tried to climb up the side of the pool. Mommy kept telling me don’t doggie paddle so frantically and act like I’m drowning the life jacket will let me float. However, I didn’t believe her and went into full panic mode. Mom kept trying and trying but I wasn’t having it so I spent the whole time clinging to the side of the pool. Amber and Brandon even tried by having Duke swim with me but I just ended up climbing up on Brandon shoulders and head. He was my tall ground! At one point I even lost my swim trunks..so I went skinny dipping hehehehe. Here is a video of me from the event.
Outside of the pool I had fun visiting people! One person when they asked what my name was said are you “Preston..from Prestonspeaks.com?” I was on cloud nine..someone recognized me! Hehehehe. I also won a door prize. I got a cute dog toy that looks like a cloth dog bone. Overall it was an ok time. I’m sure mom will try again next year to get me swimming…wonder if I can talk her into just letting me sunbath instead!
It was so nice to meet you. Mr. Magoo was so happy as you were the first famous dog he has ever met. I think he was in puppy heaven the rest of the evening. He told his feline brother and sisters all about having met you when we got home. Thanks for making Gone to the Dogs so special for him.
Looks like you had a lot of fun! I don’t like water and my brother Opossum is fear aggressive towards water. You’re amazingly brave!
