PCN is network of caring people and bloggers to help animals. If you’re a rescue group, and you would like us to feature you, please send an e-mail to PrestonCares@PrestonSpeaks.com. As an Amazing Pet Expo official blog ambassador we learn about wonderful animal rescue organizations that will be at upcoming shows.  Alaska Dog and Puppy Rescue is one of those that will be at the Anchorage Pet Expo show June 15  at the Sullivan Area  from 10 am – 6 pm with great animals available for adoption.

About the Alaska Dog & Puppy Rescue

The Alaska Dog & Puppy Rescue (ADPR) was originally formed as a Rescue organization to help meet the needs of the Mat-Su Valley and its pet overpopulation problem. Although we focus more heavily on rescues in the Mat-Su Valley and Anchorage, we work in connection with village rescue groups and air freight companies saving numerous dogs in the Bush and other outlying areas. We have rescued animals from Bethel, Dillingham, Aniak, Dutch Harbor, Mountain Village, Kipnuk, Alakanuk and Toksook, just to name a few.  The dogs and puppies taken in were literally saved from certain death. As an all-volunteer organization it hasn’t been easy, but thanks to hundreds of dedicated and compassionate volunteers ADPR has continued to grow and succeed.   We continue to rescue every week from the Mat-Su Borough Animal Shelter and Houston Animal Control, as well as the unexpected litters we take in from the public.  Since our beginning in 2003, ADPR has rescued and placed nearly 1,000 dogs a year.  All of our animals are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, micro chipped, and kept in foster care until the right forever home is found for them.

Meet Grizz

GrizzGrizz is a 2 year old male Husky that needs a very special home. He is both house-trained and kennel trained.  Grizz had a hard start in life but has managed to shine. He gets along well with other dogs and would do best in a home with another dog for him to play with during the day and to keep him from his urges to escape. He is very fearful of men so it would be best to have him adopted out to a female only home (this includes children as well). He just can’t seem to get over his “issues” with men and we do not want to subject him to another home where he might be returned to us. He needs a  family with lots of patience and lots of love . He can be an escape artist so a 6 ft. fence or other plan for “containment”  will be required to adopt Grizz. We’ve seen him come back to us too many times and we really want to make sure he gets his forever home this time. He does great with other dogs and would do best in a home with another dog to keep him company during the day.

Meet Buddy

BuddyBuddy is an older gentleman with plenty of life and love left to give. By no fault of his own, Buddy found himself abandon at the local shelter after eight years of loyal service to the only family he’d ever known.

Buddy is currently being trained at a professional boarding and training kennel in Wasilla to help him with his manners and to cope with some of the anxiety he is suffering from due to his abandonment. Buddy has a wonderful Labrador personality. He loves to play. He is a retrieving machine!

Buddy will come with several training lessons to ensure a smooth transition to his new home.

So stop by Alaska Dog and Puppy Rescue booth at the Dallas Pet Expo and say Preston sent you!
