My Dog Tux Fitting for the Angels Among Us Pet Rescue Gala

Written by Rachel Phelps

My pals, I am so excited to share with you some big news. I am going to be a celebrity dog guest at a black tie gala for one of my favorite Atlanta animal rescues, Angels Among Us! Also, I want to invite YOU to come hang out with me and have fun while helping animals in need! The event is the 3rd annual For the Love of Paws Gala and will be on Saturday, February 18th at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta hotel in Buckhead.

This annual fundraiser helps provide Angels Among Us Pet Rescue with the resources they need to continue all the amazing things they do to help the homeless animals in the Atlanta metro area. There will be a plated dinner, a live auction, live music, and ME. Well, there will also be other famous people too, but I know you only care about seeing me … hehehe.

The attire is formal, so I pulled my tux out of the back of the closet. Mom made me try it on just to make sure it still fit. Well, I discovered I have gotten a little fluffier since the last time I wore it. I had two options – give up my bacon and treats to lose some of the fluff, or buy a new tux. I wasn’t about to give up my treats, so I went with the second option.

First, I started to search on the Internet for the perfect tux. A couple companies I found which I really liked were Isabella’s Pet Shop and Bark Fifth Ave – I recommend you check them out. Ultimately, I decided on a black satin tux with a red bow from Olivia’s Doggie Designs. One thing that made the decision easier was that I have a Westie dog pal named Weezer who has several tuxes from Olivia’s, and he always look sharp! Also, the tux comes in two pieces so I can switch out parts to make a new look for my next black tie event.

I had my assistant (Mom) reach out to the company to make me a tux and they said they would need some measurements. They weren’t lying. They needed measurements of my neck, my girth, my chest, and my length. They also wanted photos of the measurements being taken so they can see how I look and how the tux would fit. This is truly a custom-fitted doggie tux!

Mom sent off the numbers and photos, and in less than a week later my tux arrived. Here is a sneak peek. I don’t want to give away my whole outfit since I want you to come to the event if you can, and if not, please follow me February 18th on social media for my red carpet photos!
