BarkWorld – The Countdown has begun!

Written by Rachel Phelps

Can you believe it?  BarkWorld is only a few months away!  I LOVE BarkWorld!!  Why?  Well, first of all it is close enough for me to drive (yea, yes I know, I don’t drive, but the rents do … and driving means I have room to bring more of my toys!).  Second, it has such great educational programming for us pet social influencers!  Also, I was one of the attendees of the first BarkWorld when it was just a small pup like me back in 2010.

Preston at BarkworldMom had won some tickets to attend this brand new conference just a month after I decided I MUST have a blog after trying out Dogster.com.  We were real newbies at all this stuff to say the least.  Regardless, we took in all the information like a sponge, and look at where we are now!  We have to give credit to this conference and the great people we met there who helped us every step along the way.

I have to say that this year’s conference is going to be the best one ever!  The speakers they have lined up are amazing!  There will be Matt Meeker, the co-founder of Meetup.com, Brent Herd from Twitter, and Kymberlie Adams from the ASPCA.  Oh, and the most important speaker of all is ME!!  I’m talking on a panel titled “Generate Awareness and Profit:  How to Take Your Social Network Offline”.  Mom is going to help me out with my talk.  I have some amazing people on my panel including Emily Burns and Rebecca Braglio.  This is going to be an amazing session and you will learn a lot.  You HAVE to attend!  To see the entire speaker lineup for this year’s BarkWorld go to: http://www.barkworldexpo.com/speakers/speaker-list/

Elvis - PrestonSpeaks.comI have more big news!  I have decided it is time to allow my intern Elvis to make his first conference appearance at BarkWorld.  Yep, you are the first to know that Elvis will be in the building! Well, actually he demanded going once he heard that Andy Nibley, the writer/director of Madonna of the Mills will be there.  He said he has to go and personally thank him for giving dogs like him a voice and letting his story be told.  Andy will be talking about making the award-winning documentary that features a lady who dedicates her life to saving dogs from the horrific, Amish-run puppy mills in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Now, Elvis isn’t ready for the full conference and hanging out at the doggie day care all day so he will be coming and going to events.  Still, this is a huge step forward in his progress as a former puppy mill dog. If you hadn’t already decided to attend, now you have to go to meet my brother Elvis!

So … I have to ask … have you bought your tickets yet to attend?  If not, WHY NOT?!?!?  Well, guess what, you could possibly go for FREE!  Yep, you are reading right, free.  My pals at Iams is hosting an awesome contest to win a free trip for a blogger and their dog to attend, as well as their flight, hotel for three nights, transportation, and a conference pass.  The contest started a few days ago and will go until August 12th.  All you have to do is write a 250 word blog post or submit a video of why you want to attend Barkworld!  To enter, go here: http://www.barkworldexpo.com/attend/blog-your-way-to-barkworld/

Also, as a backup, go ahead and get your conference pass now at the early bird discount rate of $129.  If you win, don’t worry, I think they will give you a refund.  This rate lasts until August 18th so don’t delay.  Get your tickets to attend today so you can come hang out with me (and Elvis!).  http://www.barkworldexpo.com/attend/register/
